About us
Nota began with a clear practice: putting thoughts on paper and carrying them through the day.
This shaped the way we design each product.
We create leather pieces with a clean structure, solid function and a steady feel in daily use.
The materials develop a natural character and the inside layouts can be arranged to fit the way you work.
Each product is built to fit your needs, whether you are planning, writing, drawing or working on something new.
How it started
I liked using planners and notebooks to organize my work and daily life and to have a personal space where I could write my thoughts. I loved the idea of carrying them with me and they eventually became part of my routine. I wanted this experience to feel more personal and complete. Leather covers offered structure, durability and a way to keep everything in one place.
At some point I wanted to understand how these covers were made. I created a first version and the work felt natural. I improved the design step by step until it matched what I needed.
This is the base of Nota. Well made pieces built from solid materials, designed to support the way people write, plan and keep their work in order.
What we believe
We make journals designed for long term use. The leather is strong and natural and it changes as you use it, softening and taking on marks that make it more personal. Each piece is built for daily use. The system is modular, allowing you to add or replace refills and keep everything organised in one place.
What matters to us is clarity, function and long term use. We believe that what you use often should feel natural in your hands. It should be balanced, solid and easy to work with. This is why we focus on durable materials and details that serve a clear purpose.
Vegetable Tanned Leather
We use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany, Italy. It’s tanned slowly using natural extracts from plants and following traditional methods that take time but respect both the material and the environment.
This leather keeps its natural texture. It ages well, softens with use and develops a patina that’s unique to how you carry and handle it.
It’s certified by the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium which means no synthetic coatings and no heavy metals used, only natural processes and high standards.
Natural Cream Paper
We use Munken Pure 90gsm made in Sweden by Arctic Paper. It has a warm tone, no brighteners and a smooth surface that works well with most writing tools. The paper is light but strong and thick enough to keep ink from bleeding through.
It’s FSC®, PEFC™ and EU Ecolabel certified which means it meets high standards all the way from forest to final page.
We print everything in Latvia with a trusted partner who shares our focus on quality and attention to detail.
Crafted in our studio
Each leather cover is made in our own studio. We cut, finish and stitch every piece here so we can keep the quality consistent and pay attention to each detail. Every step is handled by us, from cutting and stitching to shaping the edges and finishing the surface by hand. These small steps matter. They change how the journal feels in your hands and how well it holds up over time.
a Flexible System
The inside is made to change. The modular format lets you add, remove or rearrange booklets whenever you need to. The cover stays the same but the content can as you need.
You can switch layouts, start something new or continue what you already began. It is a practical setup that gives you structure without limiting how you prefer to use it.
built to last
Durability means staying useful and continuing to support you as your needs change. We design our products to handle regular use, to adjust when your routine shifts and to age in a way that feels personal. We use solid stitching, clean construction and flexible formats that do not need replacing each time you update your setup. The goal is to keep things working, not to start from the beginning.
Leather care
Proper care will extend the life and beauty of your leather goods. Here’s how to protect your product:
- Wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth
- Avoid using harsh detergents, alcohol, or chemicals
- Use a leather conditioner every few months to nourish the material
- Store items in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight
- Avoid humid environments and prolonged exposure to heat
Before and after applying leather balm.
The balm restores color, removes dryness, and protects the leather. It also keeps the surface smooth, flexible, and ready for daily use
